It is just under 1 year old and an excellent 4 bike carrier. The only downside to this carrier was assembling it in the first place - it took a while - but that's not a problem you'll have to face :- Everything that is fiddly on other bike carriers is easy with this one. There's a great demo video and more detail on their website. Easy coupling which fits most towbars.
Hand lever action clamps and locks the carrier to the ball. Tilts with cycles loaded for easy access to vehicle boot. Cycles held by fixed arms to avoid contact between cycles. Bike-2-Bike arm for bike 3 to 4.Adjustable wheel holders accommodate most cycle sizes (including childrens). Light board with 13 pin plug and 7 pin adaptor. It attaches to the towbar with a single easy action - just push down the clamp arm and you can feel it guiding you to get the platform level. As soon as it's down (which it will only be once the carrier is lined up properly) the arm locks securely into place and needs a key to unlock and release. The bikes sit in specially designed wheel holders with ratchet straps that make one-handed fitting and removal a breeze, and are held in place by rigid arms with padded clamp'mouths' at the end.
I bought the optional locking arms as well, so when you've spun the plastic handles down tight, you lock them with a key. This disengages an internal gear, so that the handles simply spin in place without moving. From bare car to bike rack on and the family's 4 bikes mounted takes about 5 minutes, and a fair bit of that is getting the kids to stop riding their bikes around the car so I can load them on :- When it's attached and the bikes are on, and you realise you need to put something else in the boot, you just pull the red metal quick release bar and you can tilt the whole carrier platform back. Unfortunately, the red metal quick release bar end then scuffs the road, but when you lower the platform back down, it locks back into place. It's a very simple one person operation, too.Witter is a solid and reliable brand name in towbars and towbar carriers for good reason - this is an excellent, solid, premium bike carrier that will last you. It's had an autumn and winter stored in our bike box and as the sun came out I decided it was time to put this up for sale.
Looking at the photos, I wish I'd cut the lawn before taking pictures on it, but I wanted to wash the dust off this and let it dry in the hour of sun we had last weekend! It has some dings in the paint where pedals have hit it getting pedals aligned is the only tricky thing about getting 4 big bikes on this carrier - it's totally doable but you do need to remember the pattern and be careful adjusting them once mounted!
And the plastic is a little scuffed from detaching the carrier and storage. Those are all shown in the photos. This is in excellent condition, with just enough cosmetic wear that you won't feel as bad as you would otherwise when you spin a pedal out of the way of another bike and it accidentally hits the carrier :- It comes with keys for both the locking towbar clamp and the locking bike clamps, instructions and both locking and non-locking bike clamp handles. I still have the original box and can take it apart again for you and pack it up if you prefer!
