Thule Rideon 9502 Bike Carrier Towbar Mounted 2 Cycles
Thule Ride On 9502/950200 Bike Carrier, Tow bar-Mounted for 2 Bicycles. Fitting the Thule Bike Carrier is easy. The carrier clamps easily to a car's tow bar using the suppliedner. The bike wheels then sit in the "cradles" which are on the ends of each support arm, and are held in place with lock straps (the cradles slide in and out to accommodate different lengths of bike). The tops of the bikes are then secured to the central arm/divider. As can be seen from the Thule photos, the bike rack can be tilted, with the bikes attached, to allow access to the boot of a saloon/estate, and to allow a hatchback tailgate to swing up. The rack is in decent condition, noting that it was used in all weathers (I reckon I have used the rack on fewer than ten return trips over five years). The rubber/sponge covering on the central divider has a tear in it (this doesn't affect the performance of the divider or the protection offered to bikes). I have replaced the stud that holds the central divider in place as I found there was too much movement in the arm.
There is now a piece of stainless steel studding holding the arm in place, with a sheath of rubber tubing over it to make it easy to lift the rack when not in use on a car. See the photo for an image of the modification.
